Interior Minister Daniel Lipšic will submit a proposal for his appointment to the post at the cabinet session on July 14. Lipšic explained his nomination by pointing out that his priority is fighting corruption and cronyism and also interconnections between organised and economic crime, and Žilinka has dealt with economic crime in his current position.

The interior minister refused to say who he is considering for the post of president of the Police Corps.

“Until July 16, the Police Corps president is Ján Packa,” Lipšic said, as quoted by SITA. “It would not be good if the police were to be without a president for long. Next week, I will decide on the person.”
