CHRISTIAN Democrat Pavol Bielik, mayor of Bratislava's Rača district, was accused of corruption after he asked for a Sk5 million (€124,000) bribe.
According to the Slovak daily Pravda, Bielik asked for the money from an unnamed construction company, promising to organise a lucrative deal in return.
Bielik faces up to five years in jail if convicted.
