A NEW chairman for the Christian Democratic Movement’s (KDH) parliamentary caucus will emerge from the caucus' meeting after Easter, the party's council decided at its April 5 session, held in the town of Bojnice, the TASR newswire reported.
At the same time, the council also accepted the decision by caucus chairman Pavol Hrušovský and party vice-chairman Pavol Abrhan to step down from their posts. The two party officials did so after Hrušovský's poor showing in the first round of the presidential elections in mid-March, where he only received 3.3 percent of the vote.
According to KDH chairman Ján Figeľ, the party has now concluded its assessment of the presidential elections.
"We consider the result posted by our candidate Pavol Hrušovský to be unsuccessful,” Figeľ said as quoted by TASR. “The result isn't on a par with the party's potential, hence our discussion has been wide-ranging and constructive ... it has focused on a number of areas where we're aiming to improve and bring the party closer to citizens.”
