The plant has already surpassed last year's production record. The increase in production was due to the introduction of a third shift in early 2012, and the launch of serial production of new versions of Kia’s cee'd and Sportswagon models.

In the first ten months of 2012, Kia Motors Slovakia recorded a 10-percent year-on-year increase in production of the Kia cee'd, and a 41-percent rise in production of the Sportage SUV.
