"The increase in salaries is the result of an agreement between the company and representatives of employees," Dvořák told SITA, adding that the average salary for operator positions is €1,040. In addition to the basic salary, employees can also get attendance, holiday, and Christmas supplements as well as other bonuses.

"The company will continue to provide its employees direct bus transportation to work from within the whole Žilina region," the spokesman stated.

Kia Motors Slovakia is the first facility of Kia Motors Corporation in Europe and was built between 2004 and 2006. Production of cars and engines started in December 2006. Kia currently employs over 3,900 people in Slovakia and is one of the country's largest automobile producers and exporters.
