THE KIA Motors Slovakia plant in Teplička nad Váhom near Žilina is ramping up production. During the first half of 2012 it increased its output by 10 percent compared with the same period last year, making over 149,000 cars. Its plan for 2012 is to manufacture 285,000 cars in total. The company launched production of a new version of its Kia cee’d model in April, the company announced in a press release on July 10.
The company is continuing to invest in production in 2012. It is now testing assembly of a new station-wagon version, the Kia cee’d_sw. During the company holiday in late July and early August, the production lines will be adapted to allow manufacturing of a new three-door model, the pro_cee’d. Kia plans to launch serial production of this model in 2013.
Eek-Hee Lee, president and CEO of Kia Motors Slovakia, said that the company should manage to fulfil its production plan thanks to the new models.
