Kiska is country’s most trusted politician

PRESIDENT Andrej Kiska is the most trustworthy politician in Slovakia among the top state officials in the country and leaders of major political parties, the results of a recent poll carried out by the Focus agency suggests.

The survey was conducted between December 2 and 10 and canvassed the views of 1,050 respondents, who were asked to assess the trustworthiness of 12 selected politicians, including the top three state officials (the president, the speaker of parliament and the prime minister) and chairs of major political parties, the TASR newswire reported.

Kiska emerged as the most trustworthy politician, with 70.9 percent of respondents expressing their confidence. Next came Most-Híd leader Béla Bugár at 40 percent, followed by Prime Minister Robert Fico with 38.8 percent, who has been the most trustworthy politician in Slovakia in every poll for the past decade, TASR wrote.

Recently appointed Speaker of Parliament Peter Pellegrini ended up fourth with 33.9 percent, followed by Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) head Igor Matovič with 30.7 percent, Sieť leader Radoslav Procházka with 29.2 percent, NOVA chairman Daniel Lipšic with 27 percent, Slovak National Party (SNS) head Andrej Danko with 19.1 percent, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) leader Richard Sulík with 19 percent, Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) head Ján Figeľ with 18.1 percent, Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) leader Pavol Frešo with 11.1 percent and Party of Hungarian Community (SMK) party chair József Berényi with 9 percent.

On the other hand, the least trustworthy political figures list is topped by Sulík picked by 73.5 percent of respondents. Second came Frešo with 73.3 percent, followed by Figeľ with 71.1 percent, Lipšic with 64.1 percent, Matovič with 62.4 percent, Berényi with 61.2 percent, Procházka with 60.5 percent, Fico with 57.4 percent, Bugár with 54.2 percent, Danko with 53.1 percent, Pellegrini with 44.3 percent and Kiska with 24.1 percent, TASR wrote.
