AFTER placing fourth in the first round of the March 15 presidential race, garnering a little less than 13 percent of the vote, Milan Kňažko confessed he is considering running for mayor of Bratislava, the Sme daily reported.
Municipal elections will be held around Slovakia this autumn.
Kňažko, an actor-turned-politician who is known as one of the leaders of the Velvet Revolution in Slovakia, won the presidential election in the capital when he garnered 54,719 votes in the precincts of Bratislava.
The winner of the first round of the presidential election, Robert Fico, placed fourth in Bratislava, with 33,605 votes.
The incumbent Bratislava Mayor Milan Ftáčnik, who ran with the support of Smer, has not yet definitively confirmed whether he will seek another term in the upcoming mayoral election.
Kňažko stated when evaluating his election result that it is a big commitment for him. He is not going to establish a new party. He said he had tried to achieve wider support before the race but failed. According to him, the election could have turned out differently, but he refused to provide any details.
