Košice Airport lost 39 percent of its passengers in ten months

The number of passengers served at the Košice Airport has fallen further, the SITA newswire reported on November 23. Ten months into the year, the airport reported 322,467 travellers, which was a y-o-y decrease of 39 percent.

In the same period a year ago, the number of passengers reached 528,886. Only 19,240 persons used the services of the Košice Airport in October: down 54.1 percent from last year. The tenth month recorded the lowest number of passenger served at the airport this year.

Last year, the Košice Airport served 590,900 passengers with year-on-year growth of 33 percent. Following the departure of the low-cost air carrier SkyEurope due to bankruptcy, České Aerolinie remains as the dominant regular flight operator but its proportion dropped 3 percentage points from September to 57 percent.

SkyEurope had reached 42 percent in the last month of its operation. The Slovak company Danube Wings occupies the second position (28 percent), up 2 percentage points from September. Austrian Airlines kept its 14-percent position. SITA
