THE FACULTY of Art of the Technical University of Košice (TUKE) has come up with the idea of building a pavilion for cultural events entirely from PET bottles that can be disassembled and moved when needed, making it unique.
“It will be a sort of a puzzle, able to be put together in any space or form. We will be able to adapt it to the local space and to transport it anywhere where an event, cultural performance, lecture or exhibition will take place,” Zuzana Grošaftová, one of the designers, told the Korzár daily. The university faculty started collecting PET bottles in December.
TUKE’s Faculty of Art also offered a workshop on December 17 focused on water – in its solid state as ice and as a liquid imprisoned in a man-made product, a PET bottle. Artists displayed how they had transformed ordinary plastic bottles into utility artworks and sculptors from Slovakia, Hungary and Poland transformed blocks of ice into amazing shapes reflecting the world of nature.
The workshop was organised by the Košice 2013 non-profit organisation together with students from the Faculty of Arts and invited sculptors. Sculptors participating included Robert Burkat, Michal Mizula and Zsolt M. Tóth. More information is available at www.iceteam.pl or www.iceheart.hu.
