Košice's direct airline connection to London will soon become a reality, with Wizz Air's Airbus 320 set to land at London's Luton Airport on September 17. The service will be available twice a week for the first five weeks, with the number to be eventually boosted to four times weekly.
"If we find out that there's greater interest in this service, we may even operate it daily," the TASR newswire was told by Jozsef Varadi of Wizz Air on Wednesday, June 26. "We're planning to extend the list of flights to other western European countries and Scandinavia," he added.
"A direct connection with London is an important milestone for further development of Košice Airport, the city of Košice and the region as a whole in terms of tourism and the business sector. It's the result of joint efforts of all parties concerned - the tourism organisation, the city and the airport," said the board chairman of Košice International Airport, Karl Dandler. Wizz Air is the biggest low-cost carrier in central and eastern Europe.
