For the first time, the Foreign Affairs Minister of Kosovo, Enver Hoxhaj, will come to Slovakia, as invited by the Slovak Atlantic Committee which thus intends to open a debate on the western Balkans. Informally, Hoxhaj will also meet Slovak Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčák, the Sme daily wrote in its Tuesday, November 27 issue.
His visit will take place on Tuesday, December 4, one day after the Kosovo court should decide the fate of Baki Sadiki, sentenced to prison in Slovakia for drug trafficking. Sadiki is allegedly at large in his homeland. The Foreign Affairs Ministry refuses to specify whether ministers will discuss also the Sadiki case.
On October 25, UN forces in Kosovo arrested Albanian fugitive Baki Sadiki, who was convicted in absentia in Slovakia and sentenced to 22 years in jail for producing and trafficking illegal drugs. Though the Slovak side has already begun talks aimed at securing his extradition, the whole situation may be complicated by the fact that Slovakia does not officially recognise Kosovo, private broadcaster TV Markíza reported on October 26.
