A group of 69 Kosovo refugees from Slovakia were scheduled take off from Bratislava airport July 16 to return home, Director of Slovak Interior Ministry Immigration Office Bernard Priecel said.
The ministry is co-operating with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to get Albanian Kosovars back to their country, he said. After this group leaves, 66 Kosovo refugees will remain in Slovakia. Of this number, 24 live in the Humanitarian Center in Gabčíkovo and the rest live with Slovak families.
Slovakia had originally planned to provide shelter for 500 refugees from Kosovo, and the Slovak government had allocated 40 million crowns from its reserves for the refugees' stay in Gabčíkovo, food, and health care.
