KOZ against cabinet's draft bill on social dialogue

THE TRADE union confederation KOZ is concerned that the cabinet is taking steps to liquidate the tripartite principle, said KOZ Vice-President Eugen Škultéty.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday in Bratislava, he said that the draft act on tripartite (a negotiation body including the government, employers, and trade unions) prepared by the Ministry of Labour will probably not contradict the recommendations of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

According to the ILO, it is up to every country to decide its form of social dialogue. However, Škultéty said the unions saw the draft act as a government attempt to turn tripartite into a kind of advisory body. KOZ is firmly against this.

He noted that the tripartite principle is applied by EU member countries and is also part of the prepared agreement on the EU constitution.
