FOREIGN Affairs Minister and Slovak Democratic and Christian Union candidate for president Eduard Kukan has the greatest chance of winning the presidential elections scheduled for April, says the latest poll by Slovak Radio's media research department.
With the support of 26.1 percent of those polled, Kukan outscored ex-premier and Movement for a Democratic Slovakia leader Vladimír Mečiar, who was chosen by 18.7 percent of the respondents, according to the SITA news wire.
The third most popular candidate was incumbent President Rudolf Schuster, backed by 15.9 percent. Ivan Gašparovič, head of the non-parliamentary Movement for Democracy, followed with 14.9 percent.
Former Slovak ambassador to the US Martin Bútora received 6.4 percent.
