Labour Minister Viera Tomanová's attempt at pension reform has met with criticism from Slovak institutions, the Sme daily reported on July 31.

The National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) criticised the ministry for short-sightedness, saying the ministry only proposes cosmetic changes for the next several years. According to the central bank, the ministry has not planned where to find money for pensions in the future, when there will be many fewer working people compared to pensioners than today.

Moreover, the bank contested several calculations.

The Labour Ministry received as many as 122 serious objections to the draft. Lawyer Milan Galanda said this is too many, which means that the draft is not of high quality.
