Labour Office: Jobless rate at 10.93 percent in October

DATA from the National Labour, Social Affairs and Family Office shows Slovakia's jobless rate at 10.93 percent in October, which is 0.27 percentage points less than in September.

According to the Labour Office, the number of job seekers able to take up a job immediately stood at 282,822 at the end of October.

Compared with September this represents a decrease of 6,795, while the number of job seekers went down 50,293 compared with October 2004.

"The jobless rate decreased in all Slovak regions in October," the head of the National Labour, Social Affairs and Family Office, Rudolf Sokol, told the SITA news wire.

Labour and social affairs offices reported 322,235 job seekers in total at the end of October.

Unemployment calculated from the number of all job seekers was 12.46 percent at the end of the tenth month of 2005. This means a 0.21 percentage points decrease compared with the previous month and a 1.7 percentage point drop year-on-year.
