“You have done a good job, you contributed to the growth of dynamics in Slovak-Turkish relations,” Lajčák told the outgoing ambassador.

Ugdul served in Slovakia for three years and has been credited with helping to open Turkish Honorary Consulates in Banská Bystrica and Košice earlier this year. He also took part in preparations for the visit of Turkish President Abdullah Gul in November 2009 to Bratislava and the visit of Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico to Ankara in October 2009.

“I felt at home here ... you can consider me a friend of Slovakia,” said the ambassador. He recalled that the quality of political relations has also been reflected in the intensity of economic co-operation. “In the last three years, the volume of trade has doubled and so too did the number of Slovak tourists in Turkey,” said the departing ambassador.TASR
