ANDOWNERS who are refusing to sell their property to permit the construction of the future Kia plant near Žilina may wind up losing money if it has to be expropriated, as the price set is projected to be 10 percent lower than the amount currently being offered, the Pravda daily wrote.
Stanislav Vinc, the general manager of the Hyundai/Kia project, said that while the current offer is between Sk105 and Sk146 per square meter of land, expropriation prices will range from Sk95 to Sk131.
Vinc said that expropriation could start within two or three weeks.
Around 140 landowners are refusing to sell their land, representing nine of the total 220 hectares on which the new Kia plant is to be built.
The landowners view the lower expropriation price as a means of forcing them to sell their land for the prices currently offered.
