A PROCESSION carrying Chinese lanterns was held for the first time in Ružomberok on November 11, to mark the Christian holiday of St Martin. The event began at Š.N. Hýroš park and after lighting the lanterns the procession of children and parents walked through the town’s streets and then back to the park where treats and tea were served.
The event was organised by town officials as well as the RosArt civic association and the Nevedko mothers’ centre to commemorate the day of St Martin on November 11 and to allow the town’s children to experience a narration of the life of this saint by grandmothers. The event also collected toys for the children’s clinic at the local hospital and ended with a fireworks display.
