Allied forces from the North-Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) have been taking part in a large logistical military exercise at the Slovak military area in Lešť. The goal of the exercise was to test new technologies, the Sme daily reported on June 21. It involved almost 1,800 soldiers from 35 countries worldwide.
The TASR newswire quoted the Slovak defence Minister Martin Glváč as saying that the armed forces and armies of individual NATO countries had the opportunity to cooperate. He added that the exercise – and the Lešť facility – also proved “that we are able to sell it [Lešť and the Slovak army's potential] to other countries”.
