Last troop rotation to Afghanistan

AFTER 12 years of Slovak participation in ISAF operation in Afghanistan the last rotation of 301 Slovak soldiers including nine members of steering group travels to the country June 19.

Two airplanes of US air forces took soldiers of 22nd six-month long rotation directly to Afghanistan, from the Milan Rastislav Štefánik airport in Bratislava. Defence Minister Martin Glváč was there to send them off, SITA newswire reported.

“I believe that you will do your best to represent armed forces and Slovak Republic,” Glváč said, as quoted by SITA. “And what is most important, [I believe] that all of you will come back live and healthy to your families.”

Colonel Zoltán Iboš, who led Slovak KFOR contingent in Kosovo, will take the command over Slovak contingent from leaving Colonel Svetozár Bohuš. Guardian unit, advisory team of Afghan National Army battalion and advisory team of Afghan National Forces are part of Slovak contingent. Even one woman is among 292 leaving soldiers.
