THE ECONOMY Ministry is preparing a reorganization that will result in about 70 employees being laid off, or 17 percent of the ministry's staff, the Pravda daily wrote.
Economy Minister Jirko Malchárek said the change comes following an audit at the ministry. The powers of individual sections of the ministry will be more narrowly defined and its efficiency increased.
The layoffs will save some Sk16.8 million (€443,300) annually in wages, money that Malchárek plans to pour back into the ministry's remuneration system.
