The current Slovak government proxy for the construction and operation of the Gabčíkovo - Nagymaros hydro-power project on the Danube River, Peter Hatiar, will be replaced from October 25 by the CEO of the state-run water management company Vodohospodárska Výstavba, Ladislav Lazar. The cabinet approved the reshuffle on Wednesday, October 24, based on a proposal by Transport Minister Ján Pociatek at a cabinet session held on the site of hydro-power plant at Gabčíkovo.
The cabinet met at the site to mark the twentieth anniversary of the construction of the dam at Gabčíkovo. The government proxy is at the same time the head of the government delegation negotiating with a delegation representing the Hungarian government to implement the ruling of the International Court of Justice in The Hague in the Gabčíkovo - Nagymaros case. He is also in charge of implementing some temporary technical measures dating from April 19, 1995, related to flows into the Danube and the Mosoni Danube branch, the SITA newswire wrote.
Počiatek said he considers the post of proxy as important for finding a solution to the dispute relating to the completion of the Gabčíkovo - Nagymaros project with Hungary.
