The Slovak army will participate in an international military exercise for special operations called Cobra 2013. Between November 4 and 30, it takes place simultaneously in the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Poland and Slovakia.
The goal of the exercise is to train and prepare the soldiers for emergency situations as well as to certify the commanders, with the goal in mind of sending some troops of the Fifth Special Purpose regiment from Slovakia to Afghanistan in January, the Slovak army’s Chief of the Armed Staff Peter Vojtek told SITA newswire. The exercise is organised by the Polish Command of Forces for Special Operations with the support of the NATO Special Operations Headquarters, US Special Operations Command and US European Command for Special Operations.
All told, 2,300 troops will participate in Cobra 2013, 120 in Slovakia.
