Letter to the Editor: Rude ticket checkers should be reported

Font size: A - | A +

Dear Sir,

In response to the Letter to Editor ["Ticket checkers give bad impression of Slovakia," Vol. 5 No. 7, Feb. 21-27], in which a lady reported having a terrible time with aggressive ticket checkers on municipal transport, I would like to say that it is very important, after having a bad experience with that kind of ticket controller, to send a compliant to the Ticket Controlling Authority at the Bratislava Transport Corporation.

I have also had a bad experience with ticket controllers, who were being very rude and not behaving very appropriately, but after submitting my compliant everything worked. It really worked - I was asked to come and explain while the ticket controller was sitting nearby, and I got an official apology.

You just have to get the ID of these guys. They have to show it to you and provide you with any information you want to know about them (name, ID number, etc). You can also ask them to show a valid ticket checker's license, which he has to supply along with the right ID card.

If you want to complain, it's very good to write a one page compliant and send it to the BTC by fax, as well as by registered mail. By law, they have to reply within 30 days.

Having a witness to swear to your side of the story is very advantageous as well.

I hope this helped.

Juraj Toma,

Bratislava
