Letter to the Editor: SWC led by megalomaniacs

Font size: A - | A +

I wish to comment on Paul Rusnak's letter concerning the meeting of Congressman H.J. Hyde with Dr. Mečiar, which was arranged by John Vacval - the President of the Slovak World Congress Abroad.

It is true that the Slovak World Congress Abroad headed by John Vacval has nothing in common with Mr. Rusnak, who was elected on the ruin of the former Slovak World Congress established by the late Mr. Roman.

However, Rusnak was elected in violation of a by-law of the Slovak World Congress (SWC) which states that everyone seeking an SWC office must become a member of the SWC at least one year prior to the election. Rusnak, however, was not an SWC member one year prior to his election. Thus, his presidency, according the by-law of the SWC, is invalid.

Furthermore, the present leadership headed by Rusnak consists of several megalomaniacs who promised to do a number of things prior to the SWC election, but who after almost six years have not delivered on a single one of them.

Let's have a closer look at the programme of Paul Rusnak, which was issued prior to his election to the post of the so-called SWC President. To name a few from his 6 point programme:

1) Under the leadership of Paul Rusnak, the 2.5-million strong Slovak community will be reactivated. His goal is to gain 250,000 new members. Regional offices will be established in Pasadena, Washington, New York, Cleveland, and Toronto. Also, several regional offices will be opened in Central America, Australia, Western Europe, Bratislava, and also in Prague, plus other places if needed.

2) Rusnak will establish an "SWC Investment Fund" out of his own pocket. He will raise $1 billion within five years.

Besides the above Rusnak made many promises to Slovak political leaders that he would establish a commercial bank in Slovakia. But he didn't keep a single one of his promises given at home and abroad, except to show great interest in young and pretty Slovak girls.

So, Mr. Rusnak, please be honest and tell us which one of the above-mentioned promises you were able to deliver on. Or name at least one Slovak politician whom you were able to present to a high-ranking US representative.

John Vacval

President, SWCA
