Dear Sir,
I have followed the discussion concerning primary and secondary Slovaks (Guest Column "Two types of Slovaks divide country"). I haven't heard any of my Slovak friends refer to themselves in this way.
But, I have heard some say something similar. One group of folks consider themselves Slovaks surrounded in a sea of Europeans. Being a small and new country, it is understandable why this group might feel that "bigger" European countries are threatening to them.
Another group of my acquaintances consider themselves Europeans who happen to have Slovak roots. These folks tell me that they feel more threatened by the folks in the first group than they do by other Europeans.
Your newspaper does a great job.
