Cyclists in Bratislava may finally enjoy a safer route to Devín. The city is planning to construct a segregated cycling path along the busy Devínska cesta. The route will connect existing sections of cycling paths and be separated from the main road. It will also form part of the international Iron Curtain Trail, EuroVelo 13

The new cycling path will be divided from traffic by either a wood-steel guardrail or a green belt. The entire 4.5-kilometre route to Devín is divided into six sections and will be gradually built. Currently, the city is in the process of obtaining the necessary permits.

An exception is a short segment beyond the border of the Karlova Ves borough, where homes are located and the city must negotiate with landowners.

“We are already working on a solution for this section, which will be handled as a separate project later,” said Peter Bubla, spokesperson for the city, as quoted by the Sme daily.
