“I have reached the top of work in the third sector and I would like to move on,” Schlesinger said, as quoted by the SITA newswire. “I believe that SaS will give me enough space to work on my agenda.”

Combatting infringements on personal freedom has been part of the party’s agenda for a long time and is a programme priority, emphasised Sulík.

“We’ve seen the boosting of initiatives that seek to restrict the rights of minorities,” Sulík said, as quoted by TASR. “Extremism, homophobia and racism are notions that we reject.”

Sulík added that he believes that “this will also persuade people that we’ve let down by failing to push for these topics [involving LGBTI communities] in a more assertive way”.
