Most recently, the conservative New Majority (NOVA) party and Liberal Agreement (LIDO) civic association, established by renegades from Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), agreed to run common candidate lists in all regions for the regional elections in the autumn, plus two common candidates for regional presidencies.

In practice, candidates nominated by LIDO will be included on NOVA’s election slates, the head of the latter, Daniel Lipšic, explained on May 8, as reported by the TASR newswire.

Both NOVA and LIDO called their cooperation “strategic” and hailed it as a good omen for cooperation among right-wing parties.

“It gives a signal for the future that we can cooperate and agree,” LIDO’s Jozef Kollár said, as quoted by TASR.

Neither group specified any names or the numbers of candidates they will run on the joint lists.
