After announcing their departure from the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) on Sunday, May 27, former interior minister Daniel Lipšic and MP Jana Žitňanská have now left the party's parliamentary caucus, the TASR newswire reported on Tuesday, May 29, citing party spokesman Matej Kováč.
Lipšic and Žitňanská's departure will leave the KDH caucus with 14 MPs, making the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO), which has 16 seats, the second largest caucus in parliament (after Smer, the governing party) and the largest among the opposition parties, the TASR newswire wrote. Lipšic and Žitňanská will continue to hold their seats as independent MPs.
Lipšic is reportedly also set to give up his post of head of the parliamentary committee for supervising the SIS intelligence agency.
