IGOR Líška, one of the accused in the case of alleged corruption linked to the construction of a biathlon stadium in Osrblie, may be released from custody. The Specialised Criminal Court is ruling on his request to be freed, which was addressed to the court at the end of August, the SITA newswire reported.
“At the moment the judge is writing the ruling and will publish it after it is delivered to all participants,” said court spokesperson Katarína Kudjáková, as quoted by SITA.
Kudjáková also confirmed that Líška had paid bail set at €30,000 by the court at a session on September 8.
Police arrested the former ambassador to Kenya in the act of receiving an alleged bribe of €30,000 on the premises of a company owned by a former advisor of Prime Minister Iveta Radičová, Martin Novotný. The money he was to have received came from a state donation intended to fund construction of the biathlon stadium in Osrblie which is due to host next year’s European Biathlon Championship.
