An appeals court in London on Tuesday, November 13, postponed until Friday (November 16) its final verdict in the case of Slovak citizen Ivana Boórová whose two children were placed into foster care two years ago by British authorities, the Slovak Labour Ministry's press department confirmed for the TASR newswire.
Boórová's children were seized by social workers on the grounds of alleged ill treatment by their parents. Subsequently, the British courts decided in September that the children should be put up for adoption. Slovakia's Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajčák said on Monday that the ministry has been paying close attention ever since it was first informed of the matter. "We aim to have the children returned to Slovakia, to the care of their grandmother, Mrs. Studencová," he said.
Meanwhile, activists united under an initiative called 'Send the Children Home' held a protest in front of the British Embassy in Bratislava on Monday to voice their discontent over the way that the British authorities have handled the case.
