ANTICIPATED low voter turnout in the upcoming general elections may threaten the election favourites, with the ruling coalition SDKÚ and the leading opposition Smer among the most endangered parties.

According to the latest estimates and polls, voter turnout may only be around 60 percent compared to 70 percent four years ago. According to a poll carried out by the MVK agency, only 40 percent of voters are determined to participate in the elections, the Pravda daily wrote.

Parties such as the SDKÚ and Smer may suffer the most from a low voter turnout because their voters are the least decided to participate in the elections. On the other hand, parties with smaller yet disciplined voter bases, such as the SMK, HZDS, KDH, and SNS, may profit from a low turnout.
