GERMAN air carrier Lufthansa plans to launch flights between Bratislava and Munich starting on May 3, 2004, the news wire SITA reported.

The first aircraft taking off from Bratislava's Milan Rastislav Štefánik Airport to the international airport in Munich will be a Canadair Jet 100 with a 50-seat capacity.

Lufthansa will fly round trips throughout the week with one flight on Sundays, Lufthansa told the press.

"The company's expansion to Bratislava is a logical move, given the proximity of Vienna and Brno and the increase in passengers flying from Slovakia to Germany," said Bernd Hahn, head of the Lufthansa branch for the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
