Tanax, a machinery firm that evolved from former Slovak car-maker VAB, is to fire a further 290 employees this spring, bringing its workforce under 1,000 from over 5,500 in the 1970s.
Tanax recorded a profit of Sk17 million ($400,000) last year on turnover of over Sk1 billion.
