THE BOJNICE Castle branch of the Slovak National Museum organised for the Christmas season a Magical Christmas and Three Kings event. Between December 6 and January 6, it lured 6,702 visitors, Kamila Píšová, of the museum’s press department, informed the TASR newswire.
Apart from ornately decorated Christmas trees in the chambers, the event also featured legends about important seasonal miracles and stories about some of the castle’s previous owners, like Hont-Pázmánys and the first Nativity Scene (called Betlehem in Slovak), the Thurzo family and their first Christmas tree, Matúš Čák of Trenčín and his beloved carol, and the count Ján František Pálffy and his first Christmas card.
The next planned special event will revolve around Valentine’s Day. “On the weekend of February 14-16, there will be a Valentine’s Weekend at Bojnice Castle, with guided tours taking place in the early evening hours,” Dáša Michalcová, of the castle’s programming department, told TASR. “Gentlemen will be able to use a new offer of our museum – to organise a romantic engagement ceremony in the castle chambers,” she added.
