AN ELDERLY man collapsed at the polling station in the village of Jedlinka in Prešov Region only moments before casting his vote in the presidential election on March 15, Emergency Medical Service Operational Centre spokesman Boris Chmel confirmed for the TASR newswire on the same day.
Despite attempts at resuscitation by paramedics, the pensioner died half an hour later in the ambulance.
"He was the oldest citizen in our village and he came to vote along with his wife,” the local election commission chair Jozef Panko said, as quoted by TASR. “Unfortunately, he didn't manage to do so. He felt ill and, despite us and the summoned paramedics doing our utmost, subsequently died."
