A 32-year-old man with A(H1N1) flu virus died in Prievidza hospital in Trenčín region on November 24, Slovakia's chief hygienist Ivan Rovný told the TASR newswire the following day, adding that the man's health was already compromised by a kidney disorder and the problems were compounded by pneumonia and breathing disorders.
According to the head of the epidemiological department of the national Public Health Office (UVZ), Ján Mikaš, the novel flu virus may have considerably contributed to the death.
“This was a man with a serious kidney disease,” stressed Rovný, adding that the patient had been undergoing dialysis for three years. The number of Slovaks that have contracted the A(H1N1) flu virus is currently about 400. TASR
