In the event of a general election being held in March, Smer would have come out on top, with 43.2 percent, according to a survey carried out by Median agency.
The poll, which canvassed the views of a sample of 1,086 respondents aged 18-79 between February 28 and March 27, predicted that the current governing-coalition parties would together have secured 42.2 percent of votes.
The Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) received 17.1 percent of those questioned in the poll, with the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) on 10.1 percent of votes, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) on 9.9 percent, and Most-Híd on 5.1 percent.
The opposition Slovak National Party (SNS), was supported by 5.9 percent of respondents. No other party exceeded the 5-percent threshold needed to win seats in parliament.
