IN A SIMPLE online test that includes 20 questions regarding people's opinions on various issues relating to politics, voters can match up with the party that suits them best based on the parties' respective political programs, Týždeň weekly wrote.
The test can be found at politickysupermarket.sk and was prepared by the F.A. Hayek Foundation.
The website also offers an account of individual parties' election programs from 2002 to 2006 and a public audit of this year's election programs.
Based on the election programs, the foundation also prepared a map of the political spectrum in Slovakia. According to this map, the most left wing of all parties is the Slovak Communist Party, followed by the far right Slovak National Party, and Smer.
From the left Movement for a Democratic Slovakia, Movement for Democracy, and the Free Forum are approaching the centre.
The centre parties include the Hungarian Coalition Party, Christian Democratic Movement, and New Citizens Alliance. Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda's Slovak Democratic and Christian Union is slightly on the right, and the new Nádej party is a bit further right. The unchallenged rightwing party is the tiny non-parliamentary Civil Conservative Party, which was a member of Dzurinda's former government from 1998 to 2002.
