The results of a poll conducted by the Median SK polling agency in May indicate that if the election had taken place between April 29 and May 26, the Smer party would have won with 47.3 percent of the vote, and five other parties would have cleared the 5-percent threshold necessary for winning seats in parliament.
Out of the opposition parties, the Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) placed the highest, with 9.5 percent of the vote; followed by Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO), which garnered 8.3 percent; Most-Híd with 8.1 percent; and Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) with 7.3 percent. Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) would win seats in parliament with 5.3 percent. Neither the nationalist Slovak National Party (SNS) nor the Party of Hungarian Community (SMK), with 4.3 and 3.6 percent respectively, would have made it into parliament.
Out of the 961 respondents, 29.8 said the would definitely vote in the election, 24.9 said they would probably take part, while 31.6 would definitely not vote and 8.1 percent would probably not. Finally, 5.6 percent of respondents did not know if they would vote, the SITA newswire quoted the poll’s results.
