DUTCH Liberal deputy Sophia in 't Veld accused the Slovak Member of the European Parliament, the conservative Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) Anna Záborská, of not running the committee for women rights and gender equality properly.
Anna Záborská rejected the criticism, however, the SITA news wire reported.
The Dutch deputy said that Záborská is responsible for structural problems related to the committee's functioning.
According to the Dutch deputy the problem is that Záborská's "does not consider the running of the committee to be her priority".
Sophia in 't Veld suggested a change in the committee's top position. However Záborská labelled the allegations as "intentionally false".
Záborská's appointment as the committee's chairwoman was the result of a deal between the European People's Party and the Socialists. Her election was not smooth as European Socialists were categorically against installing her in the top position, saying that Záborská advocates family stereotypes, the traditional role of women and is against abortions and same sex marriages.
