IN A REGULAR listing of the most expensive cities in the world for entrepreneurs, Bratislava has again made it into the top 50 with a rank of 48.
The chart, which is prepared by Mercer Human Resources Consulting, this year ranked Bratislava higher than Prague, Warsaw or Budapest, the Hospodárske noviny daily wrote.
Ernst & Young's Tomáš Přeček, who lives in Bratislava as well as Prague, confirmed that the Slovak capital was more expensive, especially in such categories as food and housing.
"This [higher food prices] is caused mainly by the fact that in Prague there are more supermarkets," he said.
Housing prices in Bratislava are higher because the supply of especially luxury apartments in the city center is lower than in Prague, given that Bratislava's Old Town is smaller than the Prague city center.
