The new general director of the Financial Administration, Mária Machová, said that she sent a letter of dismissal to Mikulčík on February 24, adding that the main reason for the dismissal was “insufficient preparation of the transition to the new system, especially the lack of training of people not familiar with the new conditions of work”, the SITA newswire reported.

Machová explained that she did not fire Mikulčík immediately after she replaced Igor Krnáč on February 20 as she wanted to give all those involved in the launch of the new KONS tax information system an opportunity to show significant progress by the end of that workweek.

“Due to the significance of the post and the amount of responsibility born by the director of the Financial Operations Competence Centre in the project, it was rational to keep him in the job until the end of the workweek,” she said, as quoted by TASR.
