LABOUR Minister Iveta Radičová wants to change the first pillar of the pension reform. She withdrew the revision to the law on social insurance from parliament and will prepare a new one within three months, the SME daily reported.

Among other issues the minister wants to resolve is the big difference between pensions for older and more recent pensioners. Former Labour Minister Ľudovít Kaník proposed that the difference is partly eliminated through a change in the levels of old and new pensions, but Radičová considers that this is not systematic and "has no considerable impact on the difference".

It is still unclear concrete measures the minister is working on, however. The Labour Ministry stated that no changes would be made to the second, so-called capitalization pillar of the pension reform.
