EDUCATION Minister Martin Fronc agrees with education unions that after fiscal decentralisation, schools should be administered by the state instead of municipalities for a longer period than was planned.
"Now is a time of reform that brings with it many problems, uncertainty, and a little bit of chaos as well" emphasised Minister Fronc. He added that the Association of Towns and Municipalities has to agree with the unions before the plan can be put into action.
However, the association does not have a united opinion on the issue. Its vice-chairman Jozef Turčányi agrees with state control, but chairman Michal Sýkora told the SME daily that there is no need for such a temporary solution.
The parliament will discuss the fiscal decentralisation this autumn and according to Sýkora, the main advantage of the new system is that municipalities will receive more money than the state budget proposal currently suggests.
