JURAJ Miškov, a deputy chair of opposition party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), has filed a complaint with police on suspicion that he was illegally bugged while serving as economy minister, the TASR newswire reported. He left the post earlier this month.
Miškov announced that a driver working for the Economy Ministry had allegedly found a device that could have been used for eavesdropping in the ministry car that he used for private purposes when not being chauffeur-driven.
“He identified a microphone, a small antenna and cables ... I informed the police about it and I expect that the responsible bodies will act on the matter,” Miškov said, as quoted by TASR.
However, the new management at the ministry has yet to file any complaint to investigators. The spokesperson for the ministry, Stanislav Jurikovič, told the Sme daily that the driver took the device directly to his boss. Moreover, Jurikovič opined that the device “really does not look like a bug”.
He added that before they give the device to the police they would send it to an expert in order to analyse it and its purpose, Sme wrote.
