Slovak Deputy Prime Minister for Minorities Dušan Čaplovič says that the Slovak government does not regard the problem of the Slovak minority in the Hungarian village of Mlynky as resolved. However, the government will continue dealing with the situation in a calm manner, the SITA wrote. It arose on March 25 after the local government decided to expel the local Slovak administration, and the association of Pilis Slovaks, from the so-called Slovak House in the village, claiming that it needs the premises.
Čaplovič is to address a request for help to his Hungarian counterpart, Peter Kiss. The LIPA foundation, which supports Slovaks in Hungary, could provide new premises for both organizations concerned. The foundation has allocated Sk3 million for activities of this kind. Nonetheless, the Slovak Cabinet is yet to consider this solution. Čaplovič admitted that Tuesday's decision by Mlynky's local government took him by surprise. He had hoped the Hungarian side would be willing to negotiate over the situation. SITA
